             Sh. Harish Rai Dhanda belongs to a well to do family of legal luminaries known for philanthropy, benevolence, secular outlook and humanitarian approach.

             After doing his law degree from Punjab University Chandigarh Sh. Harish Rai Dhanda started his legal practice in the year 1982 at District Courts Ludhiana. He soon earned, by dint of his hard work and honesty, an enviable reputation of being a competent lawyer. Immensely popular among the members of his fraternity, he was elected as Secretary District Bar Association, Ludhiana in the year 1987. He was elected as President District Bar Association, Ludhiana for a record number of seven times. He has been a member of the prestigious Punjab and Haryana Bar Council from 1990 to 2007 and earned the honor of being its Chairman.

             A crusader, Mr. Harish Rai Dhanda has never hesitated from raising his voice against the malpractices and corruption, prevalent anywhere, even in precincts of judiciary. A Punjabi Novel “Kaurav Sabha” which has been translated in many languages, dealing with dispenses of Justice and corruption in India, personifies and exemplifies him in a few chapters. The author Mr. Mitter Sain Meet has dedicated this novel to Mr. Harish Rai Dhanda for his commitment and efforts to cleanse and reform the system of dispensation of Justice. Mr. Dhanda is a man of ideas, very knowledgeable and thoughtful, apart from being a prolific orator. His efforts to save the life of the ailing Punjabi Poet Lal Singh Dil who unfortunately died at D.M.C. and Hospital Ludhiana speak volumes for his concern for litterateurs.

             Immensely popular among masses for his helping nature, he was elected as M.L.A. from Ludhiana West in February 2007 by a huge margin of over 15000 votes. As a legislator he has been a member of many prominent committees of Punjab Vidhan Sabha.

             Currently Mr. Dhanda is holding the post of Chief Parliamentary Secretary, Punjab. He is President Legal Wing and Vice-President of Shiromini Akali Dal. He is member Punjab School Education Board. He is member, Governing Body of Christian Medical College and Hospital, Ludhiana.

            A well-read and well-bred person, Mr. Harish Rai Dhanda is a darling of intellectuals, professionals, human right activists, writers, artists, entrepreneurs, trade unionists alike. The people of the State, particularly of Ludhiana are very optimistic about this young man.
