WELFARE SCHEMES

Under this category, following two schemes are discussed :-

 

1. OLD AGE PENSION

2. IDENTITY CARD FOR SENIOR CITIZENS.

1. OLD AGE PENSION:    (STATE SCHEME)

 

(Started in 1964)

 

Eligibility:

1. Age: Men -65 years or above; Women -60 years or above.

 

2. Income: Upto Rs. 1000, if applicant is single and up to Rs.1500 per month for couples.

 

3. Domicile: He/She should be bonafide resident of Punjab and certificate of residing in Punjab at least for 3 years. (Ration card copy should be attached.)

 

Rate of Pension: Rs.250 per month per beneficiary.

 

Mode of payment: Quarterly through Banks.

 

Disbursed through :- It is disbursed through Panchyats in rural areas and in urban areas pension is disbursed through banks.

 

How to apply

 

1. First obtain application form which is available free of cost from the office of District Social Security Officer. (In Ludhiana office is situated at Shimlapuri near Guru Nanak Engineering College.)

 

2. application form certified by the Sarpanch and Lamberdar of the village and in towns/city by the Municipal Counselor

 

3. attestation by patwari

 

4. Attested by either SDO (C)/Executive Magistrate/ Tehsildar/Naib Tehsildar/Programmer Officer (ICDS)/CDPO/BDPO.

 

5. If age proof is not available then to get attested from doctor for age certification

 

6 Enclose ration card copy

 

7. For Income proof affidavit should be attached or it is sufficient if it is filled in the form.

 

8. Applications, Complete in all respects, are submitted in the office of District Social Security Officer (in ludhiana application should be submitted in municipal corporation office mata rani chowk. )

 

Post application procedure

 

1) Municipal corporation office mata rani chowk will send this application to any inspector of municipal corporation for verification. After verification, the application will come back to office mata rani chowk who processes the case.

 

2) After processing, the applicatioins are sent to Additional Deputy Commissioner (In Ludhiana SDM)

 

3.) If found in order, Additional Deputy Commissioner (In Ludhiana SDM) sanctions the pension/financial assistance.

 

4.) Then Additional Deputy Commissioner (In Ludhiana SDM) sends the applications back to the office of District Social Security Officer (in ludhiana municipal corporation office mata rani chowk)

 

5.) Then the office of District Social Security Officer (in ludhiana municipal corporation office mata rani chowk) sends these applications to the office of District Social Security Officer shimlapuri. From shimlapuri Child Development office, letter is issued to the applicant .

 

6.) Then applicant has to go nationalised bank near to his residence and obtain from there account opening form for joint account . Hehas to go to cdpo alongwith this form and 4 photos.

7. CDPO office will attest the form and issue him four copies of Indentity card on which councillor's/MLA's stamp and signatures are required.

 

8.) The District Social Security Officer advise him/her to contact for opening of Joint Saving Bank account in the scheduled bank.

8.) then they have to go to bank and open bank joint account. one i. card will be retained by the bank.

9.then they have to go to cdpo with pass book and three i. cards. cdpo will give back to him one i. card and note down his bank account no. .

9.) The District Social Security Officer draw the amount of pension through a bill from the Government Treasury and send the Draft/Pay Order to the Nodal Bank/Coordinating Bank at District Level for Disbursement of pension to the beneficiaries Accounts with a list of beneficiaries indicating their Banks Account Number and Bank Branches.

10.) The Nodal/Coordinating Bank transfer the amount of pension scheme to the concerned branches for credit to the accounts of beneficiaries. This process is completed within 15 days by the banks.

The beneficiaries receive their pension as are credited into their accounts through the banks.

In case, the beneficiary due to death or any other reason remained fail to draw his/her pension/ from the bank continuously for four quarters, the amount lying un-disbursed in such account, is reversed back to the District Social Security Officer concerned within 15 days of the completion of fourth quarter in the shape of Bank Draft.

2. IDENTITY CARD FOR SENIOR CITIZENS.



The identity cards are issued by the District Social Security Officers to the persons above the age of 60 years in case of women & 65 years in the case of men . (In Ludhiana office is situated at Shimlapuri near Guru Nanak Engineering College.)
